Natural/Small Water Retention Measures (NSWRM) demonstrate strong potential to contribute simultaneously to water quality improvement, climate resilience and sustainable agricultural management. Throughout OPTAIN, modelling, optimisation and stakeholder engagement activities generated structured evidence on the environmental and socio-economic performance of these measures.
Promoting policy recommendations does not mean advocating for specific legislative changes or conducting regulatory implementation. Instead, it involves translating analytical findings into clear, accessible and policy-relevant messages that can inform decision-making at multiple governance levels.
