Improving water quality involves implementing practices that reduce the entry of pollutants and sediments into water bodies. This is essential for maintaining the health of aquatic ecosystems and ensuring safe water for human use.

Objective

Reduce nutrient runoff and pollutants reaching water bodies, thereby improving water quality.

Details

Vegetative buffers and constructed wetlands are effective in trapping sediments, nutrients, and pollutants. By slowing down runoff and allowing water to filter through plants and soil, these measures improve the quality of water entering rivers and lakes. This helps prevent issues such as eutrophication, which can devastate aquatic ecosystems and reduce water usability for human consumption.
