Abstract
The LIFE Grote Nete project, led by Natuurpunt and the Province of Antwerp, aims to restore and reconnect natural habitats in the upper Grote Nete Valley, a Natura 2000 site in Flanders. The project focuses on the rehabilitation of wet meadows, alluvial forests, heathlands, and sandy dunes to enhance biodiversity, water quality, and ecological resilience. Key actions include land acquisition, habitat restoration, sustainable forest management, and improving habitat connectivity. The initiative addresses habitat fragmentation caused by urbanization and intensive agriculture, seeking long-term ecological restoration and climate adaptation.
