Dalmatian pelican hatches on Bulgarian site for the first time in 60 years

This press release reports the historic hatching of a Dalmatian pelican on Persina (Belene) Island—the first nesting outside Srebarna Lake in 60 years—alongside great white pelicans nesting there. The event, enabled by wooden platforms installed by BirdLife Bulgaria, WWF, and local park authorities, marks a conservation success by establishing a new breeding colony for these vulnerable species.
