Abstract
This DEIMS.iD site profile details the intermittent Lake Cerknica in Slovenia, covering a ~4,878 ha area within a karst polje. It describes the hydrology: 80 % karst inflows, flooding for ~9 months, drying for ~2 months; average precipitation (~1,700 mm/year) and evapotranspiration (~750 mm/year); rich zonal vegetation and high biodiversity including water birds and large carnivores; and its status within LTER, Natura 2000, and Ramsar designations.
