Abstract
This webpage introduces the Ormož Basins Nature Reserve (~55 ha), describing its origin as former wastewater basins, now critical wetland habitat with reeds, flooded forest remnants and shallow pools. It highlights the site's value for 29 breeding waterbird species and up to 10,000 migratory birds, and recounts its donation to DOPPS in 2010, subsequent active management (including water buffalo grazing), educational infrastructure and monitoring programmes.
