Assessment and representation of spatial changes of aquatic vegetation distribution in the Danube Delta. Case study: Babina, Corciuvate and Ciortic lakes – Matița-Merhei aquatic complex

Year
2019
Abstract
Analyses 2006 vs 2018 topo-geodetic/remote-sensing data for three lakes (incl. Babina) in the Matița-Merhei complex. Finds a significant decline of open-water surface and expansion of emergent/floating vegetation; Babina Lake’s free water shrank by ~13.4%. Discusses management implications (channel blocking, navigation, fishery/tourism impacts).
