Abstract
New PT 2021–2027 project to restore/renature the Bala bifurcation: raise Bala bottom sill from 0 to +6.5 m MNC, dredge Old Danube km 345.5–343, and create a restored branch to rebalance flows for navigation and sturgeon migration; aims to raise Danube level near the bifurcation by up to 1.20 m. Lists permits (e.g., APM Călărași Env. Agreement no. 5/06.09.2023) and expected climate/biodiversity co-benefits.
