Abstract
Six-page synthesis of monitoring and evaluation covering 2015–2019, with a recap of the 2014 works (method, protected-species precautions, cost reported as €530 HT for excavator rental) and the effect assessment approach. Key findings include: higher low-flow groundwater levels and longer saturation time (especially visually evident in the southern area); elimination of the spring-ditch short-circuit so all nitrate-rich water crosses the wetland; nitrate reduction to below detection within 10–20 m; slight phosphate increase within “good” status; biodiversity responses (rapid amphibian use of temporary pools, strong orthoptera assemblages, vegetation trending to more hygrophilous/peaty communities with management constraints leading to Juncus effusus dominance by 2020). The synthesis also acknowledges agricultural operability issues and proposes corrective measures to redirect spring flow northward to recover mowing/pasture on the south. This document underpins the hydrologic, water-quality, biodiversity and management-trade-off statements in this factsheet and provides the later cost figure (€530 HT) that differs slightly from earlier summaries.
