Olive grove management: Mulching branches and vegetative soil coverage

Year
2020
Abstract
Practitioner article explaining how shredding/pruning-residue mulch affects the C:N balance and soil microbiology in olive groves. Describes temporary N immobilization near mulch, subsequent release as microbial biomass and humic substances decompose, and practical benefits (weed suppression, improved rainwater infiltration, higher organic matter). Notes that fertilization/irrigation can speed decomposition; long-term benefits outweigh short-term nutrient tie-up.
