Abstract
Case study of the Órbigo restoration: ~11.2 km levees removed, 5.22 km set back, 4.72 km riprap removed; ~10 km side channels reopened; ~300–480 ha of floodplain reconnected. Alcoba weir modified with a ~16 m central notch and seasonal fish ramp, reconnecting ~22–25 km. Reports increased channel dynamism/vegetation recovery and strong public participation; works mainly 2011–2013.
