Phytoremediation and Stream Revitalization for Amelioration of Ecological Status of Stream Glinščica, Slovenia

Year
2011
Abstract
Workshop paper reporting pollution and toxicity issues on the Glinščica in Ljubljana (septic/sewer leakage and agricultural runoff). It describes a 2006 phytoremediation system on a tributary - sedimentation, vegetated (reed) filter ditch, and an artificially meandered reach - to retain and treat inflows and enhance ecosystem services. The paper presents multi-year operational results and vegetation development, showing pollutant reductions when maintenance is performed.
