Abstract
Guidance on preventing, diagnosing, and remediating soil structural damage in grassland and arable systems. Teagasc explains when mechanical subsoil loosening is appropriate. It advises operating only in very dry conditions and just below the compacted layer, notes potential to alleviate problems to roughly 45 cm, and warns that results are mixed and re-compaction is likely without careful subsequent management of traffic and moisture.
